The two volumes of the catalogue of the Institut des Recherches en Sciences Humaines (IRSH) Niger provide information on 500 manuscripts that relate to all fields of Islamic studies such as the Qur’ān, Ḥadith, jurisprudence, literature, astrology, grammar, history and Sufism, etc. The collection sheds some light on the Islamic history of West Africa. It is not limited to issues of worship but also covers many areas of socio economic, cultural and political interest.
