It gives me great pleasure to introduce the website of the al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation – our window on the world. After some interruption, we are pleased to resume contact with our readers in a new format. We hope it will be another useful venue for scholars, researchers, and students of Islam and Islamic civilisation all over the world.

As the modern communication revolution continues it march, adding new methods and techniques, access has been provided to areas of human knowledge that for long centuries remained confined within small circles. Today, the Internet has become a wonderful tool, putting vast areas of human knowledge within easy reach of countless millions of people everywhere.

Through this website, our visitors will have direct and instantaneous access to the world of al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation. They will be informed about Foundation’s work in the area of Islamic manuscript, the real crucible of our cultural, historical and human existence.

They will also be familiarised with al-Furqan’s efforts in promoting, encouraging and supporting scholarly work in science and arts, in both Arabic and English.

The one thing that will be easy to access on the website is al-Furqan publications. Our visitors will, in due course, be able to purchase al-Furqan publications, ordering online. The Library, with its own database and online catalogues, will be another feature on the website, enabling users to communicate with the Library easily and with speed.

It is aimed that the website will, at the same, provide wide-ranging services, including a database of Islamic manuscripts that will be enriched regularly. This will enable researchers to access information that will be of value in their work.

Visitors will be able to follow all the activities of al-Furqan and participate in them whenever possible. They will be informed of lectures, conferences and training courses. They will have the opportunity to follow the endeavours of al-Maqasid Research Centre in the Philosophy of Islamic Law and the Encyclopaedia of Makkah and Madinah, two of the most important projects of the al-Furqan Foundation.

The website will promote and advance the work that al-Furqan is pursuing with scholars and experts, Muslim and non-Muslim, all over the world, to fulfil a common and noble cause, namely, the pursuit of knowledge and the maintenance of constructive dialogue among different cultures and societies.
