Al-Furqan Prize for Manuscript Editing

Based on the aims and objectives of al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation, and as a contribution towards raising the standards of Islamic manuscript editing and promotion, the al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation launched its own bi-annual Award. Its aim is to further new and aspiring scholars, under the title “Al-Furqan Prize for Manuscript Editing”.

It is offered in celebration of young talent, scholarship and innovation, and to stimulate new intellectuals.

The Prize is free and impartial, offered every two years, to distinguished young scholars and intellectuals in recognition for their contribution to promoting works of Islamic manuscripts.

 

The Prize is offered in four disciplines:

  • Quranic disciplines
  • Islamic fiqh (law)
  • Islamic studies

By offering this Award, the Foundation recognises outstanding intellectual achievements that contribute to raising the standards of research and scholarship in Islamic manuscripts.

Nominations are welcome from universities, scientific institutes, academies, Islamic heritage organisations, research and study centres, and publishers. Self-nominations are accepted as well as nominations on behalf of others. Political nominations are not acceptable.

The original work should be in the classical (educated) Arabic language, and should comply with the established requirements of originality, objectivity, and methodology.

 

The Prize

The Prize is $20,000 (twenty thousand US dollars).
