This lecture, delivered by Professor Tarif al-Khalidi, took place on Thursday 25th of February 1999, at Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation's headquarters, Eagle House in Wimbledon, London. Professor al-Khalidi was born in Jerusalem and is a member of the well-known Palestinian Khalidi family. He is the first Arab to hold the Chair of Arabic at Cambridge since it was established in 1632.
