This catalogue lists 475 manuscripts of the private library of Ulaḥbīb in the suburbs of Bijāyah in the Republic of Algeria.
The subjects covered in this catalogue are the Arabic language and its branches such as literature, poetry, grammar, morphology, tafsīr (Qurʾānic interpretation), tajwīd (Qurʾān recitation sciences), script writing, qirāʾāt (Qurʾānic linguistic variations), Ḥadīth, jurisprudence , trade, philosophy, creed, Sufism, Islamic asceticism, litanies, bayān, rhetoric, logic, history, biographies of notable individuals, lineage, various specialities, the manufacture of ink, and the binding of manuscripts and Qurʾānic copies (maṣāḥif), mathematics, engineering, inheritance, astrology and astronomy.
It is worth noting that French colonisers attempted to burn this library in 1957. Those manuscripts that were rescued were buried for fear of seeing them fall into French colonial hands.
