Summary
This catalogue describes 203 manuscripts at the Institute of Oriental Studies in Sarajevo as part of 5263 manuscripts which the Institute used to hold before being burnt during the war of 1992. The manuscripts are written in Arabic, Turkish, Persian and Bosnian.
As for the contents of the collection, it contains a wide variety of sciences and religious studies, such as the manuscripts of Qurʾān and its sciences, Ḥadīth and its sciences, jurisprudence, worship rituals, creed, books of grammar, dictionaries, and collections of poetry in addition to invocations and stories. The collection also includes work on Sufism and Islamic philosophy. The topics also involves all the branches of the natural sciences and mathematics, calendar and time setting, the science of the stars, magic and trusts (awqāf).
