The Holy Qurʾān Sciences and its commentaries in the Library of Iraq

Summary

This catalogue describes 2017 manuscripts held in Iraqi libraries.
The first section lists 889 manuscripts on the Qurʾān and its sciences, the variant Qurʾānic readings (qirāʾāt), the science of Qurʾān recitation (tajwīd), reasons of revelation and abrogation, the script of the Qurʾān manuscript, the allegorical expressions (mutashābih) in the Qurʾān, the ordering of the verses, and phonology (makhārij al-ḥurūf).
As for the second section, it describes 1128 manuscripts which look at topics of the interpretation of the Qurʾān, in its various forms and the interpretation of verses and sciences related to the field.
