At the invitation of Mr Firdavs Abdukhalikov, Chairperson of the Board of World Scientific Society for Study, Conservation and Promotion of Uzbekistan’s Cultural Heritage (WOSCU) and Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, the Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Sali Shahsivari, participated in the WOSCU’s 8th International Congress under the title "The Great Heritage of Ancestors – the Foundation of the Third Renaissance", which took place from 23 to 26 August 2024, in Tashkent and Samarkand.
The event was organised by the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Heritage of Uzbekistan (WOSCU), with organisational and financial support from the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Eriell Group Oil Service Company, and in partnership with the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan (under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan) and the following international partners: TURKSOY, IRCICA, and Al-Furqan Islamic Heritage Foundation.
About 300 world-renowned scientists (110 Uzbek experts and 180 foreign experts from 35 countries) participated in the works of the Congress, including 15 academicians, 40 professors and associate professors, 103 doctors of science, 54 directors of museums and libraries, 5 rectors of universities, directors of 5 publishing houses; as well as journalists from 20 foreign media, including CNN, Euronews, in addition to many local and regional television channels from Central Asian countries.
The Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Shahsivari, was honoured to deliver a speech at the Opening Session and a presentation under the title “The Imam Qaffal al-Shashi and the Significance of his Works”, as well as aspeech at the Closing Session; as he was honoured to read the Final Declaration of the Congress on behalf of the participants, called ‘Samarkand Declaration’. He was also awarded the “International WOSCU ‘Golden Book’ Award” for the contribution in the preservation, study and the popularisation of the cultural heritage of Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, at the margins of the Congress, the Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Sali Shahsivari, and the Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, Mr Firdavs Abdukhalikov, signed a Memorandum of Understanding, in order to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions.
