At the invitation of the Director of the Center for Islamic Civilization of Uzbekistan, Dr Firdavs Abdukhalikov, and the Director of ISESCO, Dr Salim al-Malik, the Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Sali Shahsivari, participated in the First International Islamic Civilization Forum under the title “The Path of Peace, Tolerance and Enlightenment”, which took place at the Centre of Islamic Civilisation (CIC) in Tashkent, on 7 and 8 July 2026.
The Forum addressed various issues on the importance of dialogue and cooperation in studying the rich scientific and spiritual heritage of Islamic civilization, in preserving and digitizing the cultural heritage, and in expanding the international scientific cooperation. The Forum was attended by 300 scholars, state and religious figures, as well as heads of international organizations, from more than 40 countries.
The Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Sali Shahsivari, was honoured to deliver a speech at the Media Briefing Session of the Forum, which took place on Monday 6th July 2026, at the CIC in Tashkent; as he was delighted to read the Address of the Participants to the President of Uzbekistan, at the closing session of the Forum.
The Forum was followed by four parallel conferences, on 9 and 10 July 2026; the first one was entitled “Imam Al-Bukhari’s Work ‘Al-Jami’ al-Sahih’ – the Book of the Ummah” (in Samarkand), the second one was entitled “The Legacy of Imam al-Maturidi: a Foundation of Moderation, Tolerance, and Enlightenment” (in Samarkand), the third one was entitled “Islamic Civilisation and Contemporary World: Heritage, Dialogue, and Development” (in Samarkand), and the fourth one was entitled “The Termez School of Hadith: the Legacy of Its Scholars and Contemporary Research” (in Termez).
The Managing Director of Al-Furqan, Mr Sali Shahsivari, was honoured to deliver a talk / presentation under the title “Towards a Civilisational Partnership”, at the Plenary Session of the Third Conference entitled “Islamic Civilisation and Contemporary World: Heritage, Dialogue, and Development”, which took place at the Imam Bukhari Grand Hotel in Samarkand.
In the margins of the Conference, Mr Shahsivari had a fruitful meeting with the Director of the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Research Center, Dr Shovosil Ziyodov, where both sides discussed the prospects of furthering the fruitful cooperation between the two institutions, in-line with the MoU which was signed few years ago, and the possibility on embarking on a joint project in cataloguing the manuscript collection held at the Imam Bukhari Center.
