This catalogue describes 1109 manuscripts which are spread across 12 libraries located in Shinqīṭ and Wādān in Mauritania.
The subjects covered in the catalogue are the Qurʾān and its sciences, jurisprudence of the Mālikī school of thought, grammar and morphology. A number of rare and valuable manuscripts were brought from Cairo, the Ḥijāz and the Levant (Shām) while others were brought from Morocco and Andalucía.
